Individual psychotherapy is suitable for anyone experiencing emotional distress or seeking personal development. This includes individuals dealing with mental health challenges, relationship issues, life transitions, or those simply wishing to enhance their overall well-being.

Alex integrates psychodynamic, interpersonal and neuro-informed practice into her therapeutic style. Alex's practice is grounded in trauma-informed practice and integrates evidence based modalities including Compassion Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Principles, Cognitive-Behavourial Therapies (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapies (DBT) and Somatic Therapies.

Sessions run for 50 minutes and can occur weekly or fortnightly depending on the your needs. These sessions may be conducted face-to-face or via Telehealth. Please note: We are currently not accepting face-to-face appointments at this time, however this may become available in future.

Selecting the right therapist can be a challenging process, and positive therapeutic outcomes largely hinge on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. To assist you in this process we provide an initial 15-minute phone consultation (subject to waitlist availability) to help you determine if we might be a good match. Following this consultation, if both parties feel aligned, we will move forward to an assessment phase to further explore our compatibility.

What to expect?

Assessment Phase

The initial 3-4 sessions (or more, depending on the complexity of your situation) will function as an assessment phase. This stage is crucial for developing a comprehensive understanding of the reasons you sought therapy, enabling us to align the most suitable treatment with your specific concerns. During this period, you will complete intake procedures and discuss the factors that led you to seek help. At the end of this phase, your therapist will work collaboratively with you to create a personalized treatment plan. This discussion will include your appointment schedule, time commitment, financial considerations, and any questions you may have. If both parties determine that we are a good match, you may be invited to move forward into the treatment phase, or we can arrange a referral upon request.

Treatment Phase

Once the assessment is complete and both you and your therapist agree to proceed, we will transition into the treatment phase. This phase consists of weekly or bi-weekly sessions—short-term, medium-term, or long-term—during which your therapist will implement the customized treatment plan designed specifically for your needs. While this plan serves as a framework for your therapy, it remains flexible and will be adjusted as needed based on your progress and evolving circumstances. Regular milestone reviews and progress evaluations will be conducted to ensure that the treatment continues to be effective. Please keep in mind that the authority to make clinical decisions regarding your care ultimately lies with your therapist.
