Meet Alex
PACFA Registered Psychotherapist | MACouns (Psychotherapy) | GradDip Couns.
Alex is warm, genuine and compassionate with a diverse experience working in a wide range of settings to support people to connect meaning, purpose and their authentic selves. Alex's therapeutic style combines depth, nuance, practical evidence based practice and person-centred support to walk beside you during difficult times. Alex works in an integrated approach, and specialises in trauma-informed relational therapies. Alex works from a psychodynamic and relational approach and has received training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS also known as 'parts work,) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). She is also strongly influenced by the Conversational Model and the work of Russell Meares.
Alex’s journey began a decade ago with volunteering in community recovery settings, where she developed a profound curiosity and deep love for supporting others with the complexities of the human experience. She has gone on to have a vibrant and varied professional career, completing both a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Masters of Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Through the integration of lived experience, professional practice and a strong theoretical background Alex became passionate about addressing the gaps between theory and application of trauma informed care. Alex has worked in a wide variety of settings including private rehabilitation facilities, community corrections facilities, crisis support, eating disorder treatment providers, AOD & substance rehabilitation programs and private practice. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth led her to work in private residential facilities as a group facilitator and individual therapist providing high quality therapeutic support to individuals in recovery from substance misuse and Complex PTSD. She is currently also a Lecturer of Psychotherapy at the Ikon Institute of Australia.

Alex's natural warmth and engaging style integrates current research from the fields of the medical field, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and psychotherapy in a way that digestible, enjoyable and relevant to a diverse range of people.
She is passionate about therapy that supports genuine change and reconnects people to their sense of inherent worth and aliveness.
